Play your part in telling the full story: contribute your Flickr images to our groups and help enrich Picture Australia’s collection!

The Flickr project is helping Picture Australia to capture both past and present reflections of Australia and its people.

Follow these steps

  1. go to www.flickr.com
  2. Sign in to Flickr, or sign up if you are not already a member.
  3. Visit the Picture Australia groups, by searching for ‘Picture Australia’ under the ‘groups’ tab in Flickr, or by following these links:
    Picture Australia: People, places and events
    Picture Australia: Ourtown
    Re-Picture Australia
  4. Click on the ‘Join this group’ link and follow the prompts.
  5. Read through the group descriptions for guidelines about contributing to Picture Australia, including information on captions, tags and licences
  6. Upload your images to Flickr.
  7. Add your images to the Picture Australia group by clicking on the ‘send to group’ icon located above each of your images in your personal pool.

To have your images considered for acquisition

  • Consider licensing your image with Creative Commons
  • Include detailed titles, descriptions and tags
  • Upload high-resolution images, e.g. 2500 x 1900 pixel
  • Include alternative contact details or check Flickr mail regularly

To find your Flickr images in Picture Australia

  1. Allow one week for your images to enter Picture Australia
  2. Go to the search page
  3. Select ‘Flickr’ from the drop down list of contributors
  4. Type the image title, or your Flickr name (as it appears on your Flickr profile page) in the search box
  5. Click on the 'search' button
