CSIRO Land and Water
CSIRO Land and Water develops innovative solutions to Australia's land and water management challenges.
In documenting and communicating decades of research on land and water resource issues, CSIRO Land and Water has amassed a collection of more than 80,000 images (mostly slides). The online CSIRO Land and Water Image Gallery, which now comprises close to 2000 images, was created in 1998 to raise awareness of land and water issues in Australia. Digitising and cataloguing the existing collections is ongoing.
The gallery is a source of information about Australia's landscapes (encompassing topographical, geological, botanical, agricultural and mining scenes), natural phenomena, land uses and related research endeavours. Popular categories include salinity, erosion, agriculture, irrigation, water and waterways.
