John Curtin Prime Ministerial Library
The John Curtin Prime Ministerial Library (JCPML) collection contains photographs relating to Australia's war time prime minister, John Curtin (1941 -1945), and to those aspects of the history and politics of Australia that are most closely connected with his life and work.
The JCPML has digitised material in its own collection and dispersed John Curtin-related materials held around the world and provides electronic access to these items through the Electronic Research Archive.
Photographs in the collection relate to themes such as Curtin's involvement with the Victorian Socialist Party, Timber Workers' Union, World War I anti-conscription movement and the Australian Labor Party, his work as editor of the Westralian Worker newspaper, his leadership of the ALP and his years as Prime Minister of Australia. Also included are photographs relating to the Western Australian Labor movement in the first half of the twentieth century.
Photographs collected by the Curtin family form a significant part of the collection and include many images of the family of John Curtin and of his wife Elsie (nee Needham) as well as images of Curtin in other roles.
