Sunshine Coast Libraries

Picture Sunshine Coast is the online gateway to Sunshine Coast Libraries’ digital collection of approximately 5000 photographs depicting the history and development of the Sunshine Coast region.

The photos feature a broad range of themes associated with the people, places, and industries of the Sunshine Coast, including pioneer families and local identities, churches, schools and hotels, timber-getting, cane and fruit farming, tourism, floods, fires, transportation, and landscapes.

Sunshine Coast Regional Council was formed in March 2008 as a result of State government amalgamations and incorporates the former Noosa Shire, Maroochy Shire and City of Caloundra.  Located 100 km north of Brisbane, the Sunshine Coast Regional Council covers an area of 3,127 km2, and is home to approximately 330,000 residents.

Digitizing and cataloguing of the photographic collection is ongoing. Donations of heritage materials are always appreciated.
