Queensland Performing Arts Centre
Queensland Performing Arts Centre is a contributor to Picture Queensland.
Located on the banks of the Brisbane River, the Queensland Performing Arts Centre is the state's premier performing arts centre.
Each year QPAC showcases the best in performance from Australia and around the world. Our venues host leading international and Australian actors, dancers, musicians, artists and companies. In addition, QPAC produces or co-produces some of Australia's most innovative and successful shows.
QPAC is also a performance home to some of the state's leading performing arts companies including Queensland Theatre Company, Queensland Ballet, The Queensland Orchestra and Opera Queensland.
The QPAC Museum houses a significant photographic record of artists and the performing arts in Queensland. Over 14,000 images are held in the form of prints, negatives and transparencies, covering circus, vaudeville, opera, drama, musical comedy and ballet from the earliest days of photography into the new millennium.
The Collection represents both amateur and professional performance and it includes images of many of Queensland's famous - Our Glad (Gladys Moncrieff), George Wallace both Senior and Junior, Olga Varona, John MacCallum as well as more contemporary artists such as Geoffrey Rush, Geraldine Turner and Bille Brown.
The Queensland Theatre Company Collection contains prints from almost every production in that company's history and noted theatre photographers, Christopher Ellis, Ivan and Gloria Pierce, and Reina Irmer are well represented in the QPAC Museum Collection.
