Western Downs Libraries

Western Downs Libraries are a contributor to Picture Queensland.

One library service - nine library branches….located in Bell, Chinchilla, Dalby, Dogwood Crossing @ Miles, Jandowae, Meandarra, Moonie, Tara and Wandoan.

Western Downs Libraries has a broad range of resources able to meet the needs of clients of all ages and interests.

The images contributed to Picture Queensland and Picture Australia are from the Chinchilla Library and make up part if its excellent local and family history collection. Other resources include:

• The Chinchilla News 1930-present
• clippings files from the newspaper
• family history booklets
• histories of local schools, churches and other organizations
• maps
• works by local authors and composers
• works about the Chinchilla district
• microforms of births, deaths and marriages
• Post Office records and regional gazetteers
• ephemera
